alumni weekend

ya this week/weekend the campus has been getting ready for all those alumni :) my grandparents are coming to visit me so i'm really excited-- yes they went to my school too.. he's a pastor and they met here and got married :) aww so sweet lol

ya chris those homecoming memories were awesome-- so i started looking on my computer for some sweet flippin pics.. i guess ALL of them with us all in our tutus and you and ben in yours are on my hard drive at home... so i only have like one or two good ones but i thought i'd put them on here.. sorry others i don't have more-- i wish i did -- i wanted to put a big group one up and was sad when i didn't find it :)

Facebook, school, homecoming

Hey Abby, you were right, Facebook is pretty addicting. But I'm glad I got it.

Not too much has happened here lately. Just the normal school stuff. I went to church on a Wednesday night for the first time since I got here. It was good. I liked it.

It's homecoming week here, but that doesn't really mean too much anymore. haha I haven't done anything for it. I'm going to go to the football game, but I think that's about it. They have had some dress up days, but none that I could wear a tutu for. That was fun last year.

you guys are amazing

Chris Hohm, Justin Breezeel, Mary Ellis, Deanna Doran---you do not understand how excited i was to see you all got facebook...:) it made me smile lots--and my roommate must think i'm weird how much i flipped out--ok. thanks guys! :)

random post

ok so this is slightly random...it'd be sooooo cool if you guys got on www.facebook.com and looked for your school. you can make a profile and get connected to ppl at your college and those from dcs--it's amazing. there's 28 ppl from dcs on it now--beware it's really addicting--you can search for ppl on end--no joke. you can find ppl within your college in your major, dorm, classes, or just the same interests. I'm not sure if everyone's school is on there--i know Millikin has it and Andrews does...Way to go Jackie and Kim--they both have it! It's pretty much the coolest thing to do now..:)
Well, have a great day everyone and don't study your brain away!

Finally is right

Mary, I'm so glad that you are finally on here. Wow. How many tries did it take? Anyway, it's good to have you aboard.

I don't really have anything else to say. Have a good day.

I'm cool too because I'm posting at 11:11. Make a wish!

Finally!!!!

Five months later....

I finally am on this blog! Thank you, Chris. After months of sadly watching from the outside and seeing all of the fun you guys have, I am now part of this group!
So my life has really been about the same as everyone else's...School, homework, and sleep (except less of that than homework). I wish that I could have told the prairie chicken story first, but, oh well.
Oh, and just a word of advice...Don't work a full time job and go to college if you don't have to...I tried that last week, and it's not easy. College is pretty fun; I've met some pretty cool people, and I've had a good time. I've also seen some very interesting people around...It's not exactly DCS..., but I like it anyway.
You'd think that I would have a little more to say after five months of waiting, but that's about it.

attention

attention: there's a huge possibilty that deanna may not be online every night.. sometimes she gets tired or her internet is DUMB.. also deanna is one hour ahead... ALSO deanna MAYBE just maybe be busy if someone calls -- so don't be offended if she can't drop everything and talk to you ... call her in about four years and she'll do just that for $$$$!!!!

good memory

today i had a great memory.
i was sitting in chemistry class today and the teacher could not get the screen for the projector to stay down. he kept trying and trying. it reminded me of when josh hjort was doing that in Mr. Braun's class and then he just let go and the screen shot up and off of the rack onto the ground. from then on, it was clunky when it came out. that was a good time.
i told josh that tonight and then i remembered when we were playing that basketball review game (again in Mr. Braun's class) and he threw the big blue ball and hit the projector. again... hilarious.

well.. i hope those brightened your day. and for those of you who weren't in those classes with josh, bummer for you.

social worker....

my declared major is now social work.
my minor is now accounting....

i feel so much better now :)

one time mary k ran into a bush at morgans house and fell down a cliff do you remember?? :)

oh dear-- mar and i had the most memorable laugh last night as we remembered the time we joined forces with the guys to TP the girls and joined forces with the girls to TP the guys. and then mar ran ino the bush and was a flying eagle for about two point two seconds in her life. :) ya good times. yesterday i had a really good day. i went to one class = psych. and then had to go to a conference with my teacher for english. then we had chapel and that wa really good= this weekend a bunch of people got saved and baptized :) it was awesome- praise the LORD!!!! then yesterday from five to twelve at night i set up and worked for a friday night event called Mosaic. its a creative arts cafe and it was outdoors this time with fires so the students and whoever came could roast marshmellows and make smores. i was behind a table for about two of the hours giving people hot chocolate or cold cider. then for a while i went around with a tray of doughnuts or stuff for smores. I LOVED it because no one thought i was a freshman ;) and i got to meet a lot of new people including graduats and others besides freshman. its a lot less intimidating when your in charge of them haa haa :) then today i went to church, ate dinner, and then came back to my room and slept for a wonderful three hours.... yes jackie my traditional saturday afternoon nap :) then i'm about to go eat and walk over to see Rachel Lampa who is playing at our school's music building the HPAC. we use a lot of acronyms here.... does anyone else do that HAA HAA :) ok well i'm going to stop rambling - i hope everyone has a fabulous weekend :)

luv
d

p.s after the concert we went to a guy named jeff's house-- homeade mommy pizza and got to watch a movie in a family room :) HAA HAA it was a lot of fun ... well i'm going to go work out hw- later

AGAIN!!??

I've changed my mind...college is exactly like high school, just a little different (and bigger) pond. From the teachers, to the crazy amount of homework, to all the different kinds of students, we're living the same dream all over again...and there are days that that is good...but then there are those other days. This fact was permanently ingrained in my head this morning in biology class.

Anyone who took physics with me Junior year I'm sure has a strong but unpleasant memory lodged in the back of your mind. No matter how you try you cannot remove the image of a certain teacher who made it a point to become a living breathing example of the mating rituals of...yep you guessed it....Prairie chickens. Need I remind you of the clucking noises, the frantic stepping, or the imitation "ear feathers" and inflated vocal pouches? It was with great relief that I heard that Hargrove did not get the open position at Millikin this fall, because I figured I could erase the memory forever and someday probably get over the scars it left. Not so. This morning our teacher brought in a model of a bird and mary, who sat next to me, commented with a chuckle that she hoped that wasn't a prairie chicken. I told her she was a jerk for bringing up such a painful subject but we both had a good laugh. It wasn't until the lecture progressed through selection of mates, typical breeding models, and mating competition that we realized this was a little too close for comfort. Then to our horror, the teacher showed an all too familiar picture of a crowd of prairie chickens in the grass. ...and she proceeded to show us how it was done....and even worse, she made us get up and try it ourselves (it took her a good 30 seconds to convince us that she was really serious...I've never seen anything so funny...). Granted, her version was significantly more tame than the one I saw in my "past life"...but it has given me cause to wonder. Will I be plagued forever??

On that note I wish you a very good weekend in which you stay in your dorms or at least away from crazy biology teachers. If you would like to join the Students in Avoidance of Prairie Chickens Association (SAPCA), please let me know as soon as possible (or call 1 800 NO PRAIRIE). What should our motto be? Send me your votes...

Storm Days

Well.. it's been a few days since I posted. Wednesday night we had a huge storm. Tornado Warning, the power went out, tons of rain, lots of wind, long time in the hall way with a bunch of guys, hot, sweaty hallway. The emergency lights even went out in our hallway. The sirens of course did not go out. Instead they got stuck "on" and we couldn't get them off for like 2 hours. annoying. We sang songs, did the wave, and talked. This all started at 7:30 pm. We had no power for a long time. In fact, we woke up Thursday and still didn't have power. So, WE HAD NO CLASS! But, we didn't have anything to do either. It's amazing how much we rely on electricity. All of my roommates and me walked to Jimmy John's for lunch. That was good. Then we came back and sat around and played poker for a bit. Then walked down to our island and did our personal devotions. That was a really good time. On our way back we talked to some guys to see if they knew anything about the power. They said it looked like we wouldn't have it for a while. We got back to the dorms and saw some flyers saying that we had school on Friday. We went and charged up all our stuff at someone's apartment. Then we walked to the gas station for supper. Came back and still didn't have power. We watched two movies. Then we went to bed. We woke up this morning and still didn't have power. So, we don't have classes today either! I'm over at our radio station building, which has power and internet. But it's been an exciting few days. People become crazy with no electricity. Basically Wednesday night we were running around the pitch-black halls with one lighter flicking on and off. Matt was acting like an ape man. It was so funny. Well that's all. Later.

and then there was RAIN

ok so basically we should talk about RAIN again.... it RAINED today i mean you guys really haven't ever seen rain before-- maybe except jackie-- i kinda felt the hurricane was in MI today... i walked no joke-- about 1000 feet- which isn't very far and i was SATURATELY WET... there were hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee puddles and i lost my flip flop and basically had to go scuba diving to go get it.. not really but one of my friends Emmanuel saved the day and gave me his hoodie to throw over my head since he basically has no hair and my hair looked "nice" today :) well i hope you all are having a good day..!! lol see you guys later

well maybe not SEE but you know what i mean!

its raining again which means tomorrow i need to plan about an hour to swim to class!

Hey guys! This is my roommate--Sarah Helmker aka the best roommate ever!! She's from Lansing, MI...and has been an awesome Christian friend! We get along very very well!! Thank God! :)

what about me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

morgan you forgot MICHIGAN only the best place ever in the whole wide world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

good job on getting back on here

why thank you jackie and abby for posting. morgan, you shouldn't tell me to not complain, so you don't get a thank you.

it was good to hear from all of you. i'm doing good. classes are going well still. today there was a huge test for western civ history. i'm not in that class but everyone stayed up late and were stressing/cramming. it brought back good memories. :) i've been bored a lot lately, so i've been playing Tiger Woods golf on playstation 2. it rocks. i'm addicted. i play everyday.

i've been thinking a lot of you all lately. it was amazing how close we all were. i miss it. but things will work out with us covering the country. morgan, that's a lot of space we cover.. good job on figuring that out. that's all for now.

where's the time going?

Ok, so time is flying by! It's already almost the end of September! Weird?! I went home last weekend..it was nice to see familiar surroundings again. Actually Friday was em's 21st b-day so my roommate and couple of her friends and i took her to a mexican restaurant..it was fun! Then they had surprise party after we got back from the mexican place, except it was more of a randomn people show up whenever party. It was funny cuz there were a few that Em didn't even know :) Anyways, so they had this really good cake--the ones with confetti colors, and of course in light of 21 years...blah blah blah...they brought sparkling red grape juice. They were such a riot. college kids...better yet Christian college kids...makind fun of college kids :) It was kinda weird being the only freshmen (my roommate and i) with all those upperclassmen, but they were all really friendly and didn't really notice. So then we went home and i played Knock out for 1 1/2 hours---ya i'm still in pain and it's tuesday--how sad is that? We played with some guys from my church and I actually won a few rounds--it was amazing!
so revival is this week and so far it has been amazing! God is convicting and showing me areas in my life that need to change! Well, take care guys!
Sorry it was so long~ Abby

playing a little catch up

ok, so I haven't written here for quite a while, although I have been reading. Somehow it feels like there's not a ton to catch you up on, but I'll think hard and try to keep chris from making more complaints. :)

I've been super busy in classes lately, and my first two science tests (why in the same week?) are coming right up. We started choir, which is great fun and have our first mini concert this weekend. Also last night we had a choir in from Cambridge England that we saw while we were over there when I was in Junior high, so that was cool...the director stayed with us...british people rock.

Anyway, I think that is about it...got people coming over on Saturday to hang out, still trying to get past that akward "new stage" with people, but we're getting there. Oh, and we've had some kickin' thunderstorms the last two nights. Thats fun stuff. Hope you all are doing well and enjoying your various places. I was thinking yesterday about how much groud we are covering...Tennesee, Ohio, Minnesota, Missouri, Arizona...holy cow, we're like taking over the country! Glad to still be connected some what. Blessings to you all...

green nails, spray paint, legos, and frisbee golf all on a weekend

this weekend was a really fun weekend and because of that i have no voice. some of you i'm sure are thankful but don't worry i don't even know you guys anymore anyway :) right now i'm in the between classes i'm doing laundry while waiting laundry to wash break. saturday i was at the beach all day aka six hours :) can you say burnt even in MI!!!! the water was freezing but the sun was hot hot hot!! saturday night we had almost anything goes. the best thing i've ever been to- so fun - so cool- so gosh darn hilarious :) wish ya could have been there.. we blew a ping pong ball down a line, ran with nacho chips, shoved people into inner tubes, and passed skinny girls on a matress while laying down :) good times. then yesterday i dodged the paper due today and decided to go frisbee golfin, topped off with a little oliver garden and some walmarting. The boys loved the toy section and drooled over all the cool toys-- for instance did you know there is a DARTH TATER--- aka mr potato head revised lol so good-- well anyway its a rainy day-- good for sleeping but i have to be in class!! much love peace in!

computer problem fixed... basically

Well, my computer no longer has a virus on it. The bummer is that I had to re-format my computer and so I lost all my programs and any info that I didn't already put on disks. So, I'm basically starting over. But, that's ok. Today was good. I went to church and then out to eat with the Lindstrom's. I went to their house last week too. They are cool, nice people. Now, I just have a little homework to finish. So, I'll talk to you all later.

Friday, September 16, 2005

hey guys

So this week was fun! I got two tests out of the way--what a relief! :) I'm pretty excited to go home this weekend, it should be a good time! We had a party for Em's 21st b-day--it was a blast. Her friends are really cool...a lot of them are Bio majors, so they basically sit around and talk about all this smart stuff..:) Oh then they were playing Madagascar on one of the big screens on campus, and we went and watched it..it made me laugh. ok bye

snoring.... sorta

ya so today i OFFICIALLY fell asleep in math. you know i usually "sleep" while going in and out hearing whats going on. def this time i woke up and freaked out cause i thought i was still in chapel... i was in math-- was worried that i missed something and how i had gotten there. i asked a girl if i was snoring she said not really just really heavy breathing lol. ya i woke up to this loud breathing sound and i was like o my gosh who is that, but when i woke up i realized it was me :) ya i'm a dork-- a very tired one at that obvoiusly!!! don't worry there wasn't a quiz after ....

Wednesday, September 14, 2005

Computers

I haven't really done a whole lot lately. I've done some homework, watched football, watched the packers lose :( and have tried fixing my computer. I have a trojan on it, which is like a virus, just a little different. I'm pretty annoyed with it, but I have people who can help me, so hopefully it will all get worked out. I have a job now. I clean on campus. It's pretty easy. Except that it is from 6-8 on some mornings. blah.. But it's nice because I get it done and out of the way for the rest of the day. I missed my open-gym, captain's practice, for basketball this morning. Overslept.. oops. I don't have any classes today so I'm just chillin and doing some homework. Adios.

Monday, September 12, 2005

so i have tests this week! It's the moment of truth--has DCS really prepared me for the hardship and agony of college? :) Actually, except for the whole no labs for any science classes--i think DCS did a pretty good job. I have a Chem and Nutrition test--fun fun. Considering the fact that my Nutrition class is at 7:30--I'm not convinced that my brain functions so early in the morning...
i'm always excited for Tues & Thurs b/c i only have 1 class--yessss! So it's amazing. Nothing too spectacular happened today--pretty normal. Oh ya, I'm going home this weekend and i'm bringing my roommate (we are inseparable :) and possibly another really cool girl on my floor--Beth. Yes, so this weekend will be fun, we are going home for Em's 21st birthday :O--isn't that soo weird?
let's see...i'm glad you all are doing well--it's so fun to get on here and read about all you guys! I get on like everyday--it's one of the highlights of my day! :)
Take care,
Abby

retreat, headaches, and shopping

well i read this thing every day but i never really have the time to blog AND sometimes i don't feel like my life has changed since the last blog i blogged. lol well this past weekend i went to a retreat- it was seriously the most awesome spiritual thing i've been to and i really had God speak to me. the difference between this time and all the others was that this wasn't just one of those "spiritual highs" we tend to settle after a couple of days. It was really what i needed.

Sunday we came back and megan and i went out to eat at taco bell, got gas, and found a really cool multi purposeful store. Oh yea and i did homework allll day long after that... lol :) but somehow i still didn't get to bed on time--gurr

today i had classes and then megan and i went tanning....then we went shoppingn :) yay!! i love shopping and tonight a few of us are going to workout, watch a soccer game, hw and movie :) well i hope everyone is having a good day!! keep in touch

family, school, movie

My family is visiting me today! It will be good to see them all again.

Yesterday i got my chemistry quiz back and got a 95 on it. That was 2nd in the class of 51, so I'm pretty happy about that. Other than that, school has been pretty boring. My classes aren't too hard yet, so that's good.

I went with some people to a $2 movie theater last night and watched Madagascar. I liked it. I thought it was funny. And, Mar, I don't care if you didn't like it. It was good. :)

Darin finally got his birthday present from me yesterday. It was a bunch of pictures of us. He said he liked them. Well, I think that's all. Have a wonderful day everyone!

retreat :)

going to a retreat this weekend for freshman! it might be fun, it might not! but if i don't like it i can just sleep the whole time... because its college and they don't care what we do :O) haa haa ok well if i'm not on till sunday you'll know why-- peace peeps!! eww gross i'm never saying that again :P have a good weekend...

friday....good...

yeah....so yesterday was a hum dinger...had class straight from 9:30 untill four...that last class was a lab where we went to rock springs and I saw literally like a thousand frogs in one pond...it was semi cool and a little gross and majorly hot. Then I went to work out, stopped in to see the v-ball team at practice...they are doing great...probably gonna see them play Mon... Oh, mar, good to see you for once in my life. And i forgot to tell you that chris told me that the reason we didn't win state last year was because we didn't shave our heads...not enough dedication. So probably you should do that...maybe even before regionals. :) I've decided that I like fridays...today we had our first two quizzes of college...did ok, but decided that my chem teacher is crazy when it comes to things like that. Who puts questions about battery fluid on their chem quizzes? Who takes 20 min to partially explain significant figures and then tells us he doesn't really care if we use them or not? Who eats chocolate bars in front of us to illustrate the difference between a homogeous and heterogenous mixture?? He's a nice guy, but it may be an interesting year! Our bio teacher rocks though...and we're learning some cools stuff. Today Mary and I had lunch and ice cream together and went to spend some MORE money at the bookstore. I hate college money wise. No existant...that's the best description. Anyway, now I'm sitting here and ignoring my homework, which is a wonderful feeling. :) Tonight, I am headed to Intervarsity for the first time...hopefully I'll meet some good kids there. Well, I had probably better go and work on my voice pieces...they are doosies... have a great weekend...and remember, only you can prevent forest fires.

Life.

Hey-
not too much to talk about- classes are going well...lowest grade so far is a B- on a math quiz so not too bad not too bad...I am getting a lot more comfortable here. Last night i met with my bible study for the first time...it should be an interesting one..I really like the leader she is very unique and a little weird which makes her an inspiration to me cuz I think its much better to be a little weird than too care a lot about how others view you and never let people see the real you. :) so yeh! tonight my family is coming to Bloomington for my moms birthday and then I think I a gonna go to a cookout with encounter (college group) Most interesting thing that has happened to me: I went to buy some ritz cheese crackers and I got to the checkout and the bag was empty...sealed...but empty..pretty irritating! anyway hope life is going well for everyone else- i am still sick..but a lot better than I was a week ago so thats a praise love ya'll!

nothing

well i don't have anything to really post about except that i'm alive.. college is fun and i really really want to watch my sister play volleyball soon! lol basically frisbee here is going to be a norm-- one of my friends cj said he brought 15 from home for people like me who don't have one-- apparently there's this cool game where its golf but with frisbees-- we are gonna do that soon! and school's good-- and i still have a head cold!! :) and i'm changing my major-- i decided that i want to work with junior or senior highschool kids in some area of counseling or social work! i am going to meet with some counselors and "job shadow" them i guess- so i'm excited for that! well i hope everyone had a good day!

ps -- the pix is the cat that survived-- you just want to snuggy with it don't you :)

falcon suffocating a mouse

great title huh? well, that's what i woke up to this morning on my way (ON TIME) to my 730 class! It was quite exciting actually. It (the random bird) stood there and it would occasionally check to see if the mouse was dead by lifting one "large talon" at a time. It was so weird. Anyways, i had this super easy lab, but b/c dcs chemistry taught me so much about labs--i felt slightly retarded...my partners and I asked the TA millions of questions, but he was one of Em's friends--so I kinda knew him...
oh oh oh supper! Yes, i love telling you all my amazing experiences with food on this campus--i hope you enjoy it too! ;) So i decided to branch out and be different--try something that looks absolutely gross. Did you know that not only does cooked spinach look disgusting--it tastes massively disgusting. Ya, not a good experience--i def would not recommend it.
well i have homework--agh. Have a good night everyone!
~Abby

class and dinner

Tonight my hall is making chicken alfredo for our sister hall. It should be pretty fun.. I hope. We have to dress up nice and take it to them and then eat it with them. That's the excitement for tonight.

Today was really boring. I woke up and was extremely tired although I got nearly 8 hours of sleep last night. I ate some pop-tarts on the way to class. College Comp was the first class. That was ok.. except I have to write the rough draft of a paper by Friday. Then off to chapel. Then I got some take-out food for lunch and went to Calculus. That class was really boring and I was starting to drift off a bit. Never did fall asleep, but wanted to. We got out a few minutes early and so I decided to buy some candy so I would stay awake. I got chewy Shock Tarts. Those were good. We took a quiz in Chemistry. Easy. I got done so I could leave class. I got out 20 min. early. I talked with some people then went to OT History. He lectured the whole time so I kinda talked to the people next to me most of the class period.

Then went to check my mail. I got one assignment back. I need some people to write me because the last three times I have checked my mail, I got back one assignment. It was depressing. haha Have a great day.

300th post

It is so great to hear from Ben, though strictly business, and David, even though I was talking to him on aol and told him to blog, and Abby, who is becoming a regular.

GREAT JOB EVERYONE ON GETTING TO 300!!! This is so awesome that we have had 300 posts. Someday I need to go back and read them. That might take a while, but it'd be fun.

It started on May 26. That is 104 days. That comes to 2.88462 posts per day. Pretty awesome. Let's see if we can up that number by the 400th post. Everyone needs to continue blogging. I appreciate all that everyone has done, because this could have ended up like that loser blog The Carlton Party. haha

Well, I'm off to bed now because it's late and I have basketball in less than 6 hours. Talk to you all later.

You hello

To whom it may concern,

Hi, my name is Ben Wilkerson. Please do not get to excited about this entry. Im here for strictly business. I work 5 days a week...usually about 35 hours a week. Mon-Fri. I have school full time. Mon & Wed nights, and Tues & Thur mornings. I am currently thinking about buying a scion. HA HA the box car/van. It is awesome. Someone please scratch my back. My cell phone has been replaced, and is now in activation again. I am keeping it away from Luke the attack dog/idiot/I hope dogs dont go to heaven. Please keep in mind, I do not like jello, Reason 1: It tastes like watered down coolaid. Reason 2: It reminds me of snot. Reason 3: It is our families new favorite thing to freaking cook.

My new past times include work, school, homework, sleeping, eating, and playing monopoly with the scotts. On free nights, I usually talk to Adriane for as long as I get the chance to. She is good.

Thank you for taking interest in this entry. I hope you are pleased with your recent review of Benjamin Wilkerson. If you have any questions or comments please email them to IBJamin615@yahoo.com. Or you can call me at 480-993-8045. Once again thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Benjamin Wilkerson

papers, millions of papers

So this blog is really nice to vent on... :) to let you know how hard college is here at Olivet. I have a bunch of papers--ya not really Mrs. Dickey style tho--so I think I'm good--or Mrs. Kok style for that matter! :) God is good all the time! We had good food in the cafeteria today--yeah! My classes are going good--oh except put this down in history guys...:) I was late for my 730 class this morning---I know I know! I'll let you recover from the shock and heartaches. It was hilarious, Erin and I were running--literally--to class and then we stopped before we got to the steps--b/c we didn't want to look like we were running...lol..ya our prof wasn't the happiest. Well that's good enough for now, i don't want to ruin my reputation with you guys....:)...so I'll limit my story to one! lol

Labor Day?

So, I’m not sure exactly who it is that is laboring this weekend, but I’m sure it’s not me…we have been granted the blessing of a very relaxed and fun weekend…YES!!

Friday night Casey had a football game…that was great fun because I hadn’t seen her with the regalia on yet. She is hot in overalls and a plume. …and you think I’m joking. J They did great, and the Johnsons came to see her play. It was fun. Next we headed to faith lock in, where we were forced to eat pizza with our wrists all masking taped together (this ended in a food fight with Zach that I lost…), we did DDR, murder in the house, funnoodle, some crazy videos, and great games with balloons, crate paper, and other random objects. All the college kids but Tina were home, and it was great to get to see everyone again. Somehow this group keeps changing but the fun times keep happening anyway. Thanks Lord.

After a bit of sleep Saturday morning, we headed out to go boating with the Cos parents, as they were without children for the day. Annie K and her friends from school also went, they are such sweet girls and we had a great time laughing and screaming as we tried to do ourselves bodily harm. Dennis even let me drive the boat! :) Yesterday we had a great church service, family meeting, bible study…oh…and over the weekend Casey and I got to watch both Anne of Green Gables and of Avonlea…quite possibly some of my favorite movies. Tonight we head to the webers for a cookout. What fun!!

All in all, an awesome weekend, and one spent mostly ignoring the homework that I probably should be getting done. Having only had one week of classes I haven’t hit the overwhelmed stage yet…I like that greatly. Hope you all are doing well…can’t wait to talk to you soon. Blessings on your labor, or lack thereof.

dumb comments

i don't know why we get those mar, but i deleted the last one just because i could. :)

big deal

for all of you who posted comments on my last blog...l just want you to know I am the same person...just trying to branch out on the things that I eat LOL I dont think I would be able to explain to people at isu why I wont eat the red m&m's.... and deanna...everytime you post a comment you always spell something wrong...fix that...;) love you

at panera

i'm at panera now visitng with my cousin. and kristie and i went shopping today and then to a cookout with her uncle's friends house! we are having fun - its great to eat real food and MEAT!!! ok i'm soo glad mar's good abby's good kim's good and chris's good --- everyone else you need to post!!

spaghetti and nacho cheese..anyone?

So what's the grossest thing in the cafeteria for you guys? :) The other day, us supercool freshmen (just in case you wondered that's never really achievable and anything you can or do will be labeled as stupid) were deciding what to eat out of the wide variety(this is an exaggeration again). My friend Erin was like "Hey I want some of that lasagna over there" (none of us actually looked to see if it was lasagna we just believed her...bad idea) so we go over there and there's this huge line and we look at the food and it's Pizza (not lasagna)! Which wouldn't be too bad but it was cold and there were only 2 pieces left...agh. So we looked down farther and decided spaghetti sounded amazing. I proceeded to put a big glob of spaghetti noodles on my plate--i was getting excited about actually having a descent meal, when Erin and I discovered that there was no sauce left----:O----and that they weren't making any more!!! I know! Anyways, so what do you think i did? I was NOT going to walk around the lunchroom with a plate of spaghetti noodles--that would look sooo stupid and i could not have myself looking like an out-of-place freshmen, right? So I took some nacho cheese sauce right next to where the other sauce would have been and smeared it all over my noodles! Yes, I now look officially in-place and totally gross! :)
(p.s. it actually tasted good, but it was really hard to eat--you all should try it--it's like mac and cheese :)
(p.s.s as i was standing in another line, i watched another girl do the same thing I did--but she looked around to make sure no "cool" people were watching her--most likely a freshmen. :)

New Church

Today I visited a Foursquare church here in the Twin Cities. It is called Hope Temple. It was a small church, but I liked it. The people were very nice and made me feel welcome. I knew a few people already in the church and most of them knew my dad. Yes, EVERYONE in Foursquare knows my dad. I just drop his name and then I'm cool. We went out to Subway and they paid for my meal. They were really nice... going out of their way to pick me up, buy me lunch, and go out of their way to take me home. I'm pretty sure I'm going back next week. There is a lunch for the college group next Sunday, so that'll be fun. Today I'm by myself in the dorm room. Matt is home for the weekend. Jeremy is home for today and tonight. Jared is with his family cause it is his uncle's birthday. So, I get the room to myself. I'll probably do some homework and just mess around. Someone should probably come visit me and keep me company. :) Have a great day everyone.

Home, mexican food, and red m&m's

Hey, I came home this weekend since its a 3 day weekend and all and I am only 45 min away. I got to see Mar and have one of our famous steak n shake conversations. and I also saw Joni who is home for the weekend also, we went to eat at el rodeo. you should all be relieved to know that I have decided to give up on my grudge against mexican food and I have been eating red M&M's....I know, shocking...breath... anyway i am glad to be home but I think I will also be ready to go back...life without parents is kind of nice :) well- tomorrow is an engagement party for my brother who proposed to his g/f Becky...so I am off to bed- love you all and i hope you are all having a great holiday weekend...deanna- thankyou for saving the poor kitten from the birds...thats touching lol

the one that survived

so apparently in the country if you leave kittens outside birds swoop down and eat them.. that was very disturbing to me so the one kitten left on this farm i am CONSTANTLY holding it! its soo cute-- in case you are wondering where i am - i am on a farm in Ohio--- kristie's gma lives in her own house but on her aunt and unlces property-- $$-- they are fifteen horses.. goats.. like five dogs... cats... its soo cool!! i think we might go riding either tonight tomorrow or the next day :) ok well i gotta go!! talk to you guys later

Late night

Last night was my first night so far of staying up late and doing homework. I was up till 2:30, which isn't too bad but it's later than I have been up since I got here. Of course, when I was finished, I was relieved. I got in bed and set my alarm for 8:30. But at around 5:45 our phone starts beeping because it was dying. So annoying. Loud beeps every minute or so. We all woke up. I got out of bed and unplugged the phone wire and took the phone off the charger. Got back in bed.. so much better. NOT It kept beeping. Jared finally got up and took the batteries out of the phone and then it did stop. But from then on I was sleeping on and off. At 7:50 I rolled over and rubbed my nose to find a little blood. So, I had to get up for good. I'm a little tired, but not bad. I have class from 9-3 today.

Something I haven't blogged about that happened the other day was our room renovation. We lofted our beds on Monday. That saved so much space because we had 2 bunk beds in here and now we have all the floor space to work with. Then Tuesday we brought in a 2nd couch and an entertainment center that Jared had. We arranged the room, so it's a lot better now. It went from crammed before the lofts to nice with adding a couch and entertainment center. Then on Wednesday they brought in a 4th desk. I had been using a card table for my desk because they had a shortage. But I got a really nice brand new desk. They all have old metal ones, and I have a new wood one. It's pretty funny. So, now we have the happening room. We are cool. You should come visit and check it out. Talk to you all later.

good mornin'!

Hey kids...

So basically, school has finally started for me....no more time to wait around hearing all your news and wishing I was doing something exciting while missing all my friends. Sounds like everyone is still alive. Way to be!

Freshman week was fun though remenicent of summer camp...the group that I was with all week is the same group for my seminar class and my english class. They are a great group of kids and I have class with them today...so I'm a happy girl. I've finally met all my teachers, Seminar is a funny lady who's high energy, handed out crayons on the first day, and periodically has her feet above her head. :) Our English teacher is like 4"7' but she will be tough and she's really nice. great at leading discussions. Chem teacher is a scream...a bigger class but that's ok...he will make things funny and interesting, although his tests are rumored to be killers. Finally my bio teacher is pretty normal...I love biology, I can't wait to get started. Oh, and my chem lab teacher is Mrs. Higgins, who some of you may know...Matt Higgins' mom. She's great.

Anyway, things are going well...I'm trying to learn how to get organized and carpool with dad since gas prices are going through the roof. It's been fun to be on campus with him. Making a few friends and scaring off some of the rest....pretty normal for me. :)

Keep that blogging up and those of you who are in the storm, make sure you get an evacuation plan! Either that or invest in scuba diving equipment...

Blessings...
