Basketball

Last monday (the 21st) was our first JV game. We won 74-58. It was fun. We could have done better but we played alright for it being the first game. I had about 10 points.

Tonight was our second game. We lost 65-72. Annoying. We played terribly in the first half and pretty good in the second half. We were down by 15 for most of the game but fought back to only lose by 7. We should have won though. Still annoying. haha I only had 4 points. I twisted my ankle again. Dumb ankle.

Overall basketball is going really well. I'm having a blast playing. It's so fun.

hmmmmm....

sounds like the world is dying their hair this week...I was just writing to let everyone know that I've gone bald in preparation for Vespers this weekend. Unfortunately I don't have a picture to show you. Darn technology...guess you'll just have to imagine it.

My sister is out of school today and until our town decides to be reasonable again. I wish that there were unions for college professors. Oh well...let them strike, she deserves it I suppose.

Probably the only funny thing that's happened to me recently was when we went to Walmart yesterday to buy bows for putting up the garland tonight (we being the choir president and a couple others)...we bought 14 bows each 20 inches in diameter with huge long tails...and when we stacked them on the conveyor belt the slightly disgruntled cashier just gave us this look from over the top of the pile, like "you have got to be kidding me!!" Peering back at her, all my friend could think to say ways, "Merry Christmas!!" ...it was funny...trust me.

My voice is gone, my homework is barely getting done, and I'm severely lacking in sleep...but I'm loving this week for the fun it is to prep a big event and the way that it is building up friendships among the girls. Yay for choir buddies. Love you all much, don't drown in finals, and for pitty sake, call me when you get home. 12 more days of school...yippee skipee

then.... and now... aka everyone should just color their hair lol :)

when i was blonde... now i'm brown :)

Hello.

I came home. It was fun.
I saw dad and mom. I saw Aaron and Laura and Heather too. They are nice. I saw pals. Some of them were you. You are all cool. We did a fun game. It was fun. I ate food. It was good. Snow fell down. I saw the snow. The snow was cool. I like snow. No snow fell down at home. Snow fell down in Ohio. It was cold snow. I like this blog. It has dead deers on it. Dead deers are cool. I like dead deers. Dead deers are good food. I like to eat dead deers. I like to eat (Mommy, how to do you spell the word for the food dead deers are? . . .) venison. It is good to eat. I will stop now. That was fun. I like to write and spell. It is fun to do. Be good and be nice. Trust Jesus. Stay potty-trained. Love, Cos

No more blonde!

Yes, my hair is red! I decided to take a risk and get it dyed, so here is a picture!
I had a great Thanksgiving too, and it was so nice to see some of you last weekend. But if we just hang in there, there are only a few weeks left and then an even longer break!

Snowing!

Ha, its not snowing...what were you thinking. Its like 75. It drops to 50's at night though.....Nice and toasty in the day. No snow. I skateboarded tonight. No snow. Shortsleeves. Hot. Sweaty. No snow. Warm. The pool was nice today. No snow. 75 is perfect.

Good night

Today I watched Ice Princess and Polar Express today. They were both pretty good movies. I also got to eat at Monical's. The only Monical's in Wisconsin is about half an hour away from us, so that was good and cool to go there. The funny thing was that it was attached to a bar. So, we spent about an hour and fifteen minutes in the bar area waiting. Fun times. haha Well, have a great night/day everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hey everybody. Happy Thanksgiving!!

I got to come home on Tuesday. I'm so happy to be home. I'm thankful for that. We picked up Heather Lehman on Wednesday. Instead of her having to travel 10 hours home, she is just staying with us for Thanksgiving. It's been good. We went to church last night and had the special Thanksgiving service.

Today we got up and got in the church van. We drove to Barron. It was snowing and not very good roads for the first half of the trip, but as we went along, it got better. I got to see my grandparents, 3 aunts and uncles, and some cousins. It was a great time. I love family. We also went over to the pastor's house in Barron. His son was home and they showed us some deer that they had shot. There were three of them hanging in the garage. That's what this picture is of. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!!

I'm thankful for God, my family, you guys, my friends at college, snow, food, and lots of other things.

Friends, Foes, and Fellow-formerclassmates: Lend me your eyes.

Hi yall!
Do you guys remember the band I used to play in called "The MUH?" Well, this past summer we recorded one last CD to say thanks and farewell to everyone (we finally called it quits last January). We took several of our songs and rewrote the music to be kind of jazzy/loungy. Believe you me, it's some pretty sweet stuff.
I finally finished mixing this album, called "Another Million Miles," about 2 weeks ago, but we have no money to pay for manufacturing costs. We're hoping to sell 70 pre-ordered CDs to raise $550 so we can make them.
So if you are at all interested, check out the album's blogsite for detailed info on how to pre-order. And as of tomorrow (Monday, Nov.21), you can go to our purevolume site to hear/download the album's song clip montage.
Email me at bipod@juno.com if you have any questions, or simply post a comment here on this blog entry.

I wish you all a merry Thanksgiving! Keep blogging!
Grace and Godspeed,
Cos

COLD*

1. Having a low temperature.

2. Having a temperature lower than normal body temperature.

3. Feeling no warmth; uncomfortably chilled.

4. Marked by deficient heat: a cold room.

5. Marked by or sustaining a loss of body heat: cold hands and feet.

6. A condition of low air temperature; cold weather: went out into the cold and got a chill.

7. A viral infection characterized by inflammation of the mucous membranes lining the upper respiratory passages and usually accompanied by malaise, fever, chills, coughing, and sneezing. Also called common cold, coryza.

Yep...that about sums it up...a day of 7 degree wind chills and half a box of Kleenex later...I'm still COLD!! :) hooray...winter is here...

A wonderous day and many steaming mugs of chai tea to you all...

It's snowing!

Today was our first snow. :) It's actually sticking a little to the ground and a lot to the cars. I thought you all would like to know that. It's been pretty cold here but not unbearable. Snow always makes the cold better.

I twisted my ankle in basketball again today. It was huge for a while, but now I'm icing it and the swelling is going down. I'll be good. My first game (I'm on JV) is next monday. We play against Crown College. It's going to be a lot of fun. I expect you all to be there, just like at DCS. :)

thank you

Thanks to all who were a part of the 10,000,093,084,085(aka a lot...sorry i couldn't make a big enough number) posts last time. I have to say I feel very honored. Well, we have invented this new thing on our floor. They are called screaming sessions. All we basically do is scream obnoxiously and insanely for 30 seconds to relieve our stress. I think we might of had a few of those moments in High School...I really hate to do this to you guys again but can anyone say, Algebra 2? Physics? or Bio 2? or Lunchroom duty? :) Ahh we were so young and naive! Little did we know college would be million times harder...
O.k. so I might not make it to Thanksgiving--i'll probably die before then. Lots to do and NO time to do it!
goodnight everyone and pray that Jesus comes back really soon!

Descriptive Essay

The music begins and my eyes pop wide open. Time slows down. There is still a blur about the entire room due to the sleep still in my eye. Annoyed, I sit up wondering why I am awake right now. My lips are chapped because of the cool night with the windows open. The feeling of slight nausia due to lack of sleep. I smell the morning due and stretch my hybernating muscles into action. I stand and walk to my closet with my feet scuffing against the brown carpet because they dont know how to receive messages from my brain at the current hour. I throw on my daily routing of clothing, many choices to choose from, I take one of the 5 beige home sweet home tshirts out of the closet. The shirt slowly takes the goosbumps off of my body from the chill of the room. I throw a pair of jean shorts on and put any of the random colors of short socks I have, on to my feet. I grab the brown padded skateboarding shoes and throw on a hat and off I go. I open the front door hearing the squeek of the knob and the chill of the morning. I look to the right and see the relieving mountains blocking the sun with rays of light peeking over the tops. The sun is almost here to take the chill away. The heat is comming soon. I walk to my car and the dew is flicking up to my legs and I smell the fresh air. Silence...Beautiful silence. A deep breath in, a long exhale, and I open the car door and start the motor. The time speeds back up again. I wont experience that wonderful silence again untill morning comes to rescue me from the stress that each day contains. The days are swift, just a blink of my eye. The only part I remember is the morning tranquility.

english question...

O.k. don't freak out--i was just wondering if any of you guys remembered the book we had to read for honor's english Jr. year...that really depressing love story about some lady's cousin and her husband going down a hill trying to commit suicide..??don't ask why i was thinking about it--i just was.
I went to my roommate's home this weekend. She lives in Lansing, MI!! :) It was really cool. She has 3 sisters and they are so much fun! We almost went through...yes, through the toll booth without paying. it was funny. the lady at the booth was like "where do you think you are going, lady?" It was hilarious. She didn't think we had to pay because the cars in front of us didn't even stop...:) Then we got off on the wrong exit and tried turning around but ended up on another interstate instead!!! It's been quite a night!
hope you guys are enjoying the weekend--abby

Bored

I'm super bored right now. It's a Friday night at 8:45 p.m. and I have absolutely nothing to do... I'm in the computer lab with my roommate Jeremy. Just thought I'd let you all know that.

good story

This morning my roommate Jared woke up in the room across the hall. He didn't know how he got there. Apparently, around 3 in the morning he sleep-walked across the hall. One of the guys in the room woke up, but thought he was a different guy who had been sleeping in there. This morning they figured out it was Jared and were really confused as to why he was there. So, nobody knows why or how he got over there, but we are assuming he just walked over there in his sleep. Haha. Well, I hope that made someone's day.

I suppose...

I suppose that I should blog...I know that it has been a few weeks. Not a whole lot has happened in my life besides school and work. (Oh, Deanna, you will appreciate this: One of our new resident's son-in-law calls me the "lobby princess.") I did get to see my 6-month old cousin last weekend, and he is adorable! His parents dressed him in an almost oversized dragon costume, and I must say, he is the cutest baby that I have ever seen.
Oh, and in biology, my lab partner and I are waiting for preying mantis egg sacs to hatch so that we can study their cannibalistic habits. I know, it sound cruel, but I am actually looking forward to studying them...I love preying mantises!
Well, that is all that I can think of right now!
You guys have a great week!

400th Post!

We have accomplished another great feat. We keep racking these posts up and I'm loving it. Here's the stats:

400 posts
165 days

2.424242 posts per day

That is pretty good, although it's a little lower than the 300th post. Let's get on fixing that.

Have a great day! Keep Blogging!

Adriane!

Adriane! You are alive. Wow. I'm glad you are blogging again. That's cool. It's always good to hear how people are doing.

This weekend has been pretty good. I hung out with some people last night. Jeremy and I were in the Student Center and one of the basketball guys came in. He invited us to go with him to a house where a bunch of Christian people from different colleges get together and hang out. It was pretty fun. We met some cool people. A bunch of them were from South Carolina, so they had the awesome Southern accent. I wish I was around people that talked like that all the time. haha We also met a girl who was on last year's University of Minnesota volleyball team. That team got 2nd in the nation last year! They are awesome. She was an honorable mention All-American. The cool part is that she is a Christian. Also, she didn't even say she that she was on the team. Someone else told us. She just introduced herself as Erin. I thought it was cool how she wasn't stuck-up or anything like that.

We got back to our room about 1. We cleaned our room till 3. Then went to sleep until 1. It was nice, but now it's almost 2 in the morning and I'm wide awake. Talk to you all later.

MY NEW 80s LOOK - WHAT DO YOU GUYS AND GIRLS THINK???? :) except for the first picture-- thats just us girls being dumb in the dorm! lol

hello

Hey guys! So this week's been good. I officially switched my major to Religious Studies (hopefully to be missions when they get it next year.) God has been working and sometimes it's hard to see, but He is good! There are a lot of things heavy on my heart lately. A lot of my friends are having issues back home and it's hard to see them go through the pain. Any prayers would be greatly appreciated!
Anyways, I just got done reading Every Young Woman's Battle. It is a great book, chances are girls--you've heard the information before, but it's just really good to be reaffirmed again. It taught me some new things too. I recommend it!
Well I need to go get ready for Chemistry--aren't you jealous?? :)
Have a good weekend guys~Abby

Wedding, Family, Coffee

This weekend was probably the best one I've had since I got here to Northwestern. I got to go back to Barron (the place I lived before Decatur for those of you who didn't know) to go to a wedding. One of my friends, a girl, that I grew up with got married. It was kinda weird because she is our age. The last two weddings I have been to now are people our age.. Derek and Talitha was the other one. With Sara Taylor coming this spring/summer sometime, we just keep them coming.

Anyway, I got to see my mom and Michael for the first time since about 3 weeks after school started. It was very nice. I enjoyed it a lot, although it would have been nice to have my dad and Jordan there. They had a youth thing they had to go to. I also saw my grandma and grandpa, 3 aunts and 3 uncles, and one cousin. It was a great time! :)

Tonight we decided that we wanted to go do something. So, Jeremy, Jared, me and two girls went to downtown Minneapolis. We kinda wandered around for a long time looking for this coffee shop that the girls "knew" where it was. Finally we found it. I got a Raspberry Mocha drink. It was good. On our way back, we got lost. We had to stop and ask for directions, but instead of doing it the normal way, Jared pulls through the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant and asks them how to get to where we were going. It was funny. The person didn't really know what they were talking about, so we went to McDonald's and asked them. We got a lady that you could tell was not from this country. haha She was a little hard to understand and didn't understand us. Jared asked, "How do I get to 694 from here?" The lady replied by saying, "How many piece nuggets was that?" Wow, good times. We just started busting up laughing. Eventually a different girl came and gave us directions.

This is kinda long. Hope it didn't bore you. Have a great day.
