georgia, spring break, and blizzards???

ok so we get a phone call.. deanna and theresa get home now winter watch/blizzard-- we are in Georgia.. and i planned to stop and see jackie at belmont but that didn't happen.. saturday nice warm layign out on blankets in the sunshine of georgia.. tomorrow white outs.. somethings not right.. i have to agree with morgan this is messed up! besides i live in snow ALL THE TIME.. im so jealous of my friends in florida on spring break.. gurr.. oh ya i'm on that too morgan.. you me.. hang out.. cause i'm pretty sure we live in the same town :) so far break has been fun.. it was great to spend time with my family and see some fellow friends visiting a college down in TN that i almost went to :) well i hope you guys have fun.. those of you in school STUDY HARD :) heehe later guys!!!

T-Wolves

Hey. Morgan, have a great spring break! And whoever else is on break, have a great time too. Sounds like a great start to spring in Decatur. :) It's about time you guys get a bunch of snow.

Yesterday I went to another Timberwolves game. I got back from church and lunch, and Jeremy told me that we had to leave now because he had tickets to the game. His dad had them given to him that day, so we got free tickets and it was a lot of fun. The T-Wolves won, too! Last time we went, they lost on a buzzer-beater, so this time was better. Plus Kevin Garnett is one of my favorite players, and he had over 35 points and a sweet alley-oop dunk. It was pretty awesome!

Well, I'm off to supper and then back to the books.

First day of spring...

...Cue snowstorm...

yeah, you heard me right...anywhere between 3 and 10 inches tonight for yours truely. What the heck is up with this midwester weather anways? grrrr....there go the crocus....

Regardless of what the weather might like me to believe, I'm on SPRING break! Finally I'm getting to enjoy some down time. I've already spent an afternoon playing frisbee, had a great game of bowling with some buddies from Faith, spent a day helping the Haupts move, shopping, and logged in a fair amount of time writing the five papers that I have due next week (ggrrr again). This morning I had one of the most incredible experiences of my life...I got to watch a baby being born...I seriously have never seen anything so amazing you guys. Life is not only sacred, it's fragile and precious and totally overwhelming. Seeing that dad's face when he held the baby for the first time was miraculous. So anyway, overall a great break so far.

This weekend a couple of girls from church are headed to see Jackie for the weekend...that should be a blast. Until then I'll be here, writing more papers, doing things around the house, and ....sledding???

never a dull moment...hehe...have a great day kids!!

March Madness

I love this time of year with all the basketball games that are going on because of the NCAA tournament! It's probably one of the best times of the year. Illinois won their first game so that's sweet, but Wisconsin lost so that's a bummer. Anyway, I don't really have much to say, but you all should watch some of the games.

the weekend was crazy having brad meet my family and friends -- but he survived :) he ended up speaking for church and i sang for special music and played the piano for the service! it was great. and the church now loves him too. my dad thinks that he's going to be the pastor of a big church because he can keep the attention and he has great speaking skills. he's great- at least i think so :) hahaa

my niece was also in the hospital this weekend so unfortunately he had to meet my brother and his wife in that setting.. but brylee is doing ok and out of the hospital and my brother and his wife also love him :)

Snow

So, I was wrong. I said that the snow barely covered the ground. Well, it continued to snow all night long and by this morning we had 7 inches. No more grass seen here. You know you are in the north when you get 7 inches of snow in one day and two days earlier it was 60 degrees here.

Back at School

Well, I'm back at school now. Not the greatest feeling, but I guess you have to come back sometime. Spring break was a great time. I had a lot of fun and got to hang out with my family a lot, so that was sweet.

I told my uncle the other day (the one who Skypes) about geocaching. I explained what it was and that you needed at GPS. A few days later he had gotten a GPS from a guy he knew and went out and found his first geocache! It's pretty cool to get new people started. He said that he has several hundred within 10 miles of his zip code because he lives in San Fransisco.

I came back to school today and there was no snow. There hasn't been any here for quite a while, but guess what. Yep, snow came today. Not much, but enough to cover most of the grass. Of course it would follow me back to school. While everyone else was in Florida, Mexico, or Hawaii, I was in 2 feet of snow and then it followed me back here! Well, good thing I like snow.

I start 2 new classes this quad, so hopefully those go pretty good. Well, I hope you all are doing well.

dang, that peep was dead...

just wanted to share my most exciting moment of the day...

This morning in Biology class my teacher was rambling on about metabolic processes, biochemical pathways, and cellular respiration when she randomly pulled out a bright pink marshmallow peep and a box of matches. When the next line out of her mouth was "if the fire alarm goes off...I did NOT do this!" we knew we were in for a good time.

She blatantly lit the peep on fire and we all sat there and watched it burn on the end of a scauple. there was something so satisfying about it all...though I must say the smell wasn't too great. She then proceeded to hand out peeps to the class...informing us of course for the purpose of learning that our bodies were going to do exactly the same thing. So, in a way, I am indirectly responsible for the deaths of about 51 peeps.

Hehe...happy easter a bit early...

The 500th Post

Well, again here are the numbers. You guys know I'm a numbers guy, which is why I do this.

Days: 285

Posts per day: 1.7543859649122807017543859649123 (you know you love the precision)

That's down a lot from the 400th post. We were at 2.4242 posts per day, so we are slacking bad.

That is mainly due to the non-blogging of Ben, Adriane, Jen, Mar, David, and Jackie. Everyone else is doing good. Well, except for Kim. She didn't want to blog anymore so I removed her.

Pet peeves (volume 2)

Hey y'all...it's been a while

Unfortunately I have almost nothing to report. We had a huge concert this weekend that went really well...full orchestra and soloists from Chicago...it was really good. A bunch of people are in town on spring break this week. And I'm gearing up for another week of school. Come on spring break.

For some reason I'm in the mood to carry on Mar and D's list of pet peeves...here we go

~When the cream cheese in the packet covers all but two bites of your bagel
~when your english teacher tells you on Friday that your topic for your research paper won't work and then you find out that the rough draft is due Thursday
~runs in pantyhose
~the fact that a full order of onion rings at DQ is only 6 rings
~remembering the answer to a test question as you walk out the door.
~missing the same entrance in a music piece every time you go through it
~trying to learn Italian when you are most familiar with spanish (they are SO CLOSE!)
~When you realize that the only thing standing between a week off and a week in school is yourself (for serious, who even cares in college?)
~ when you close a word document at like 2 in the morning and accidently hit "no" when asked "save changes??"
~when you play or hear a wrong chord on the last notes of the song
~when you spill coffee on your shirt on the way to school and you don't have time to turn around
~ when you get the right answer on your scrap paper but copy it wrong onto your test
~the fact that the FAFSA has to be re-filed every year
~the fact that I just took the time to write all this down.

Ok...so it was a lousy list...add some or something...
Have an awesome day!!

Awesome weekend with Keith Wilson

Keith Wilson came to visit me on Thursday. We decided at Christmas that we were going to hang out over spring break. Unfortunately, our breaks did not overlap, but luckily Keith only has one class every Friday, so he could come. We picked this weekend about a week ago and didn't have everything figured out until a few days before he came, but it was awesome.

He got here late on Thursday so we just stayed around the house. Friday Keith and I went to my church and played basketball. We were the only ones there, but it was still pretty fun. Then we picked up Michael from a birthday party. We came back to the house and played Monopoly, which Keith won easily. I would have been out pretty quick, but Keith kept giving me money underneath the table so I could stay in. Michael had no idea. I would pay Keith and then he would pass me the money back under the table. Then Friday night we had some people over and watched The Fantastic Four.

Saturday was the best day. We woke up that morning and went to the church for the weekly basketball get together. Michael, Keith, and I played for about 2 hours. Then my dad came with Jordan and we all went to a snowshoeing place. It was a once a year thing where they took us on a 1 mile hike through the woods on snowshoes. We came to a firepit and a lady that had hot chocolate and apple cider for us. It was pretty sweet. Then we made the hike back. We filled out some things at the beginning for door prizes. Jordan decided to ask if we had to be present for the drawings. We did and since it was 3 and the drawings were at 6 we had some time to kill.

Good thing we brought the GPS. We went geocaching. But we only found 1 out of 3 that we went too. There was just too much snow! One place that we went took us to a field. The snow came up to the top of my thigh. We rummaged around for a while, but then decided there was no way that we could find a little box under 3 feet of snow. We did find one at a little roadside thing where there wasn't much snow.

We went back to the snowshoeing place and were hoping that we would win some prizes. We had 5 people and there were only about 35 people there. There were quite a few prizes, with the grand prize being a pair of brand new snowshoes. There were quite a few names drawn when finally Keith won. We were all cheering loud. The best part was that all the rest of the people were old drunk people who were cheering about everything. Then Michael won, then Jordan won, then I won. Unfortunately, my dad didn't win anything. For the grand prize drawing, they put everyone back in and drew a name. The first 3 people weren't there, including a guy who already won a prize and then left. Then they called Jordan!! We were so excited. We cleaned out the prizes. It was a lot of fun.

Here are the prizes that we got, but it doesn't have Keith's prizes.

Keith left today about 3 after church and lunch. It was good to have him here. :)

later

Hi!

I hope that everyone is doing well; it's kind of hard to tell from this very lifeless blog. I am doing good now that I have made it alive past the first forboding wall of exams.

Oh! For all of you who don't know or don't care (and you should by the way), Pride and Prejudice came out on DVD on Tuesday. It is a wonderful movie, and you should probably see it (at least for the experience).

Well, as always, I don't have a whole lot to say, but I hope that you all have a great weekend (for some, spring break)!
